Tema, Oct. 29, GNA – The July and September Borns of Friends of Tema (FOT), a social organisation of Tema residents, have supported the Mama Happy Life Enhancement Foundation (MAHLEF) and the Tema General Hospital as part of their effort to improve livelihood in Tema.

The September Borns presented items including food, drinks, toiletries, clothes, stationery, water and other items to the MAHLEF in Tema Newtown, while the July Borns renovated and refurbished Consulting Room Eight of the Hospital.

Nana Baffuor Sekyere Bamfo, Ankobeahene of Akyem Abodom, and spokesperson for the group told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the Friends of Tema used their various birth months to embark on projects within Tema.

He added that the long-standing initiative ensures that they celebrate their birthdays with the needy and the less privileged in the community they are residing in.

Nana Kojo Amoako Mensah, Mamfe Mawerehene, and a member of Friends of Tema, stated that those born in July in the group realised that Tema General Hospital, which is a referral hospital, has many needs.

He added that as residents of Tema, the hospital is the first of call for their health needs; therefore, they decided to renovate Consulting Room Eight by painting it, retiling the roof and refurbishing it with modern tables and chairs.

They also provided a fridge for the medical staff working there.

He said the outpatients department (OPD) and the other consulting rooms also need to be renovated, and therefore appealed to other organisations to consider supporting the hospital in that light to help staff provide quality and efficient health service delivery to the residents.

Dr Richard Anthony, the Medical Director of the Tema General Hospital, commended the group for renovating the consulting room.
