Eight sub-chiefs inaugurated to support the administration of Coaltar

Coaltar (E/R), Oct. 8, GNA – Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu II, the Chief of Coaltar in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region has inaugurated eight sub-chiefs to support in the administration of the town. 

Speaking in an interview with the media, he called on the government appointees to give due recognition to the authority of traditional leaders to enhance cohesion and development.  

He said the chiefs were the custodians of the land and that any activity that takes place in their jurisdictions they must be in the known for peace and understanding to prevail.  

Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu said metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives and the security personnel in the areas should focus on their core mandate and stop engaging in land and chieftaincy activities. 

“About 500 years ago when Coaltar became existence we have co-existed peacefully. We do not want politicians to use partisan politics to divide us. We are one family,” he stated. 

He said the galamsey menace was a huge burden and therefore all hands must be on deck to find a solution to it “because people who are closer to the presidency, politicians, the police, military, and some chiefs are involved,” stating that; “I will not allow galamsey operation to take place here at Coaltar. 

He called on the media to help expose the perpetrators to protect the environment and the water bodies from destruction so that posterity would not blame this generation. 

He urged journalists to be circumspect in their reportage to prevent chaos. 

Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu appealed to parents to admonish their children to avoid engaging in political mayhem, which would create a problem to the immediate family and the entire society, saying; “All that they need to do is to cast their ballots on the voting day and return home peacefully.”  

He expressed gratitude to Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia for honouring his promise of rehabilitating the Coaltar township road while appealing to him to ensure the completion of the project. 

Nii Laryea, Akwashontse and the Leader of the newly installed sub-chiefs of behalf of his colleagues thanked the Chief of Coaltar for the honour done them and pledged that they would work as a team to build the community.  

He said humility and truth would always be their hallmark in whatever they would do to attract support for the advancement of the town.
