Accra, Oct. 21, GNA – Dr Martin Thompson Ntem, Director of the Institute for Digital Marketing and Communication (IDMC) – Ghana, has said the emergence of digital platforms and digital tools enhanced the works of every professional and the journalism space was not an exception.
He said the prevalence of smartphones, and social media sometimes made it harder for people to focus on reading but, accessing and interacting with information in various digital formats including infographics supported to improve reading comprehension and memory retention.
Dr. Ntem speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said digital storytelling in journalism was a form of digital media production that helped convey complex information in a relatable and accessible manner.
” For instance, a vivid article with digital storytelling on advocacy in health communication, youth entrepreneurship, gender and climate change issues have the power to influence and shape the readers’ perspectives, the state of mind, and compel them to respond to content,” he said.
In a related development, he urged the participating journalists of the Post COVID-19 Skills Development and Productivity Enhancement Project (PSDPEP) training programme to include infographics to inform and share their news reports with the mass audience.
The Ghana News Agency has been selected as the beneficiary organisation for the PSDPEP training programme which is supported by the Institute for Digital Marketing and Communication (IDMC) – Ghana.
