Ho, Oct. 11, GNA – Madam Millicent Kabuki Carboo, the Biakoye District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Oti Region, has resigned.
A press release by the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development confirmed the resignation.
Madam Carboo was unanimously endorsed as the DCE in 2021 after a failed attempt in 2017.
The DCE’s last duties performed few days ago included donation of mono desks to the District Education Directorate, marked ‘My First Day at School,’ commissioning renovated Tapa-Akaa Yaw D/A Primary School, paid working visit to the Biakoye Model Girls JHS and commissioning of the Bowiri Kwamikrom R/C Primary School blocks.
Although attempts by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to reach the DCE proved futile, close sources could not confirm the reasons for her resignation.
The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development noted that the resignation was in line with the provisions under Section 20(3)(c) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
The Ministry noted that Mr. Edward Owusu, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly in the Bono East Region has also resigned.
It said the respective Regional Ministers had been directed to act as District Chief Executives of the two Assemblies until substantive replacements were appointed by the President.
