Assemblyman calls for urgent repair of deplorable roads in Old Ayoma Electoral Area

Ayoma (O/R), Oct 19, GNA – Mr. Bismark Yirenkyi, the Assemblyman for Old Ayoma Electoral Area, under the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region, has urged authorities to take a swift action on the dire state of roads in his electoral area. 

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on a visit, he revealed that the deplorable roads are causing immense inconvenience to residents and businesses, hindering daily life and economic activities. 

On the economic impact, Mr. Yirenkyi emphasised that the roads affecting supply chains and local economies, difficulty accessing healthcare facilities due to numerous potholes, disrupt businesses, increase the risk of accidents and putting lives at risk. 

The Assemblyman urged Jasikan Municipal Assembly to concentrate on roads maintenance and construction, equipment safe and accessible transportation for residents. 

He told GNA that the plight of the community members in Old Ayoma Electoral Area is heart-wrenching. 

An engagement with some electoral members who registered their displeasure are lamenting that, despite their repeated complaints, nothing has been done to fix the roads. 

“Our poor road conditions are causing food stuffs to rot in the bush, because transportation has become our nightmare, we are joining forces with our Assemblyman, Mr. Yirenkyi, to demand urgent attention to our roads”. 

Madam Arsnart Amewu and Mr. Cleophas Kusseh   told GNA that similar protests have taken place in other areas where residents demonstrated against bad roads. 

They urged the government and authorities at Jasikan Municipal Assembly to take concrete steps to address this pressing issue and ensure that communities under Old Ayoma Electoral Area have access to safe and reliable roads.
