Navrongo (U/E), Oct. 18, GNA-The Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists (GACRA) has appreciated Dr Sylvanus Kampo, a Senior Lecturer of the Clement Kubindiwo Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) for his contribution to members’ professional development.
Dr Kampo, who is the Head of Department, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, School of Medical Sciences of the university, was appreciated by leadership of the GACRA for his commitment to ensuring that Certified Registered Anaesthetists (CRAs) acquired higher education.
Mr. James Nwisangra, the President of GACRA, presented a plaque to Dr Kampo, which in part read, “Your enviable commitment to ensuring the CRAs in Ghana climb the ladder of higher education is incomparable.”
The presentation was part of this year’s celebration of World Anaesthesia Day.
Annually, anaesthetists across the globe celebrate World Anaesthesia Day on October 16 to commemorate the first successful use of Diethyl ether anaesthesia in surgery in 1846.
The day was also used to celebrate advances made in anaesthesiology over the years, and to recognise the essential role anaesthesia played in patient comfort, safety, and improved surgical outcomes.
This year’s celebration was on the theme: “Workforce Well-Being.”
The GACRA described Dr Kampo as “an epitome of knowledge,” and said the association would continue to seek his “deep knowledge in advancing the academic prospects for its members.”
Mr. Nwisangra said the association was ready to partner with the university to ensure that their members acquired higher education, and to improve health services to the people.
