Accra, Oct. 31, GNA – The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has launched its 2024 Peaceful Elections Campaign Project as a commitment to ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and respectful electoral process in the country.

Mr Andrews Ackah, President of AAG, said the Association’s Project dubbed “SPEAK PEACE” was to help inject some level of calmness across the country.

He said Ghana had been praised for its unwavering commitment to democracy, peace, and unity in Africa.

However, we must not take peaceful elections for granted as they require intentional effort, mutual respect, and dedication to a fair process.

He said it was crucial that as the lead group for advertisers in Ghana, “we work towards promoting peaceful discussions and responsible behaviour during this election.”

The President said the member agencies or businesses of AAG had been at the forefront of most of the political campaigns of the top political parties in the general elections, crafting messages and designing their campaign creatives and advertisements for them on the business side.

He said it was also to create public consciousness about the need to speak peace to one another because there was only one Ghana for all.

The President said as part of the project, the Association had designed catchy adverts for billboards and the print media as well as television commercials for TV, digital platforms, and radio to be published nationwide.

He said the Association was working closely with key stakeholders, including the National Peace Council, Civil Society Organizations, media partners, and community leaders, to amplify messages of peace through their privileged media platforms across the country.

“We believe that, through our collaboration with the media and the listed organizations, we can touch every corner of Ghana and inspire positive behaviour, positive speech and positive conversations that will make the 2024 general elections a success,” he added.

He said AAG’s commitment went beyond just voting; it extended to the kind of society to create for the children.

He implored all media houses, advertisers, and every Ghanaian and anyone living in Ghana to join them in the effort to promote peace.

“Let us use our influence, our platforms, and our voices to call for peace, unity, and respect for each other throughout this election season and beyond,” he said.

Mr Ackah said as the political season heats up and political emotions have begun rising across the country among followers of the top political parties, “Together, let us make history by demonstrating once again that Ghana can lead by example, with an election season marked not by division but by unity and respect for all,” he said.

Mrs Faith Junko Edison, Public Relations Officer at the National Peace Council, commended the leadership of AAG for their commitment to promoting peace during and after the 2024 elections.

She called on Ghanaians to together continue to provide a harmonized environment for peace to thrive.
