Zenith Bank health walk forges unity and collaboration for development

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited has held its 19th Anniversary Health Walk to promote health and wellness and to deepen relationships with customers and stakeholders.

The event which was on the Bank’s 19th Anniversary theme: “Beyond Boundaries: 19 Years of Financial Innovation and Excellence” saw participants walk through key streets in the city, including the Ridge Roundabout, Accra Financial Centre, Kwame Nkrumah Circle and the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, before returning to the Zenith Heights building.

The walk brought together the board, management, staff, partners and customers of the Bank for a day of exercise, aerobics and bonding.

Some dignitaries also in attendance at the event on Saturday were the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Ifedayo Adeoye, and Mrs. Freda Yahan Duplan, the Bank’s Board Chair.

Mr. Henry Chinedu Onwuzurigbo, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited said the Bank’s move to organise the health walk was to foster unity and promote healthy living emphasising that health is wealth.

He added that future plans would involve extending the walk to other regions where the Bank operates.

“We are trying to see how we can push it to the other regions in coming celebrations. That plan is in the pipeline,” the MD/CEO said.

Speaking to the media, the MD/CEO also touched on how the Bank’s CSR initiatives have impacted individuals and communities in its 19 years of operations.

He said the Bank had equipped schools with resources such as IT infrastructure to aid in learning.

He said the Bank had provided financial assistance through educational scholarships for brilliant but underprivileged children, adding that some of the beneficiaries of the scheme had graduated whilst others are currently at university, high school and basic education levels.

“It might interest you to know that some of the beneficiaries have graduated as medical doctors, etc,” he said.

The Managing Director/CEO said the future was hinged on technology and Zenith Bank Ghana would continue to leverage the opportunities that technology presents to roll out products and services that provide greater convenience for customers.

He reassured all that the Bank would continue to operate in the Ghanaian Banking industry, supporting the growth of its economy.
