Worawora (O/R), Sept. 3, GNA – Bueman Senior High School (SHS) in Jasikan in the Oti Region and Peki SHS, Volta Region, have emerged as winners of the zone six Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) contest.
In the Volta Region, Peki SHS won as the best Energy Sustainability while Comboni Technical Institute and Keta SHS placed second and third positions in Environmental Sustainability, respectively.
Bueman was adjudged first in Environmental Sustainability, while WoraWora SHS placed second in Food Sovereignty in the Oti region segment.
Bueman SHS was again adjudged the third runner-up in Energy Sustainability at the end of the competition.
The competition was organised by Free Senior High and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education to create a platform for students to practically display the application of their innovations in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
In all, eleven SHS comprising Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) took part in the competition held at WoraWora under Biakoye District of the Oti Region.
Mr Richard Agyemang Junior, the Acting Head of Corporate Affairs, Ghana TVET Service, said the various Innovations displayed by all the eleven participating schools, clearly demonstrated that the country’s potentials around STEM was solid.
He said STEM remained the surest path to developing the country’s economy and the government remained committed to promoting it, in addition, parents were encouraged to support their wards in pursuing STEM education.
Mr Alex Quayson, organiser of the contest, applauded the minister for education, Free Senior High Coordinator and the team for championing STEM NNOVATION across Ghana to solve future problems.
Mr Bright Abeiku, a STEM educator of BUSEC, attributed their victory to thorough preparation and high sacrifices, and thanked the headmaster, old students’ association as well as team members for their support.
