Two in court over stolen analgin injections

Accra, Sept. 02, GNA – Two out of six persons have appeared before an Adentan Circuit Court for allegedly stealing 279 Cartons of Analgin Injections valued at GHC223,200. 

The two accused persons, Stanley Smith Mensah aka Moni, an Electrician and Daniel Nyarko aka Benzima, an electrician. 

The Court has issued a bench warrant against Ernest Abrah who failed to appear before it when the matter was called. 

Charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit, stealing and two counts of stealing, Mensah and Nyarko have pleaded not guilty. 

The Court presided over by Angela Attachie admitted them to bail in the sum of GHC223,200 with two sureties each to be justified with landed property. 

Prosecution led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo told the Court that the complainant Collins Donkor is the warehouse manager of Habmay Pharmacy Limited located at Lakeside Community 5 in Tema. 

Chief Inspector Lanyo said Abrah, the first accused person was a security guard detailed at the warehouse. 

Prosecution said Mensah, the second accused person, and Nyarko, the third accused person together with other accused persons, namely Prince aka Abua, Charles and Ibrahim Sita, all at large, were casual workers who the complainant usually engaged them to assist load and offload pharmaceutical products from various trucks into the warehouse and warehouse to trucks. 

The Prosecution told the Court that on September 11, 2023, the complainant took stock and realised that 196 boxes of analgin injections valued GHC156,800 were missing but did not understand.  

According to the Prosecution, on October 23, 2023, the complainant took stock again and found out that another 83 cartons of analgin injections valued GHC66,400 have been stolen. 

Prosecution total value of the analgen injections stolen was GHC223,200. 

Prosecution said, “the manager of the became alarmed and checked the CCTV camera mounted at the premises.” 

Prosecution said the Manager’s checks on the CCTV revealed that a taxi driver who was a witness in the case and Abrah were busily seen carrying boxes of analgin injection from the first floor of the warehouse into the taxi and same were driven to unknown destination. 

The Court was told that the matter was reported to the Police at Lakeside and on October 27, 2023, Abrah was arrested. 

During Abrah’s interrogation he mentioned Mensah, Nyarko, Prince and Charles as his accomplices. 

Prosecution said investigations revealed that the accused persons and two others, now at large, in September and October 2023, conspired to steal 279 cartons of the analgin injection from the warehouse and sold same to Ibrahim Sita, the sixth accused person, who is also at large.
