Accra, Sept.11 GNA – Ms Dakoa Newman, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South, and her opponent, Ernest Adomako of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have both filed nominations for the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Both aspirants, who filed their nomination forms on separate days, were accompanied by enthusiastic supporters clad in party colours to the Okaikwei South office of the Electoral Commission (EC).
The pair also submitted their documents to the Electoral Commission officials at the Okaikwei South office who are expected to scrutinize them.
After filing her nomination forms, Ms Newman, who is also the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, took to her social media platforms, announcing that “I successfully filed my nomination forms to contest as Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South in the December 2024 Elections”.
Mr. Adomako, after submitting his documents, pledged to prioritize critical development projects, including road improvements, a comprehensive renovation of the Kaneshie Market, and initiatives focused on youth development and job creation.
He expressed confidence in the Electoral Commission’s commitment to ensuring a free and fair election.
Mr Adomako urged the constituents to entrust him with their mandate, promising to deliver on the NDC’s vision for a better Okaikwei South.
He said he was poised to embark on a journey to win the hearts and minds of the constituents, saying “only time will tell,” if he would succeed in his quest to represent the people of Okaikwei South.
