Takoradi, Sept. 24, GNA – Tullow Ghana Limited has gifted students of Bompeh Senior High School (SHS) with a one storey dormitory each for males and female students to step up congenial learning environment.
The dormitory, the first of its kind, is believed to help students stay in the school to avoid truancy and absenteeism, prevent more community exposure particularly for the female students, to control teenage pregnancy and improve student’s grades.
Madam Dorothy Kwakye, the Headmistress of the School, said the institution was so thankful to be blessed with such an infrastructure support.
She said the facility had come in handy to give students some peace of mind to be able to concentrate on their academic and personal development.
Mr Moses Mensah Yeboah, the Shore Base Manager, Tullow Ghana alluded to the brighter future the sleeping place of the students stand to bring to the school.
He said the company had a sterling commitment to the human capital development of operational areas under different pillars, saying “… we are providing 15 of these across the country”.
Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister, while applauding the Company for the massive contributions to the socio-economic development of the country, tasked them to adopt Bompeh SHS for enhanced investment so it could become the ‘Achimota’ of the Western Region.
He said the government would continue adding to the physical infrastructure of the school to advance learning.
Mr Darko-Mensah urged the students to cultivate a culture of discipline, create a niche for the school in the region, choosing career pathways of entrepreneurship and private sector development.
