TUC Ghana admits Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives Ghana as new affiliates

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA – The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has inaugurated the Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives Ghana, (UPNMG) as an affiliate of the Congress.

Mr Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of TUC, who welcomed the UPNMG said, the healthcare sector was the backbone of any thriving society. Nurses and midwives play an indispensable role in ensuring the well-being of our communities, therefore, their dedication compassion, and unwavering commitment to their profession are the pillars upon which we stand.

“Today, as we officially affiliate the Professional Nurses and Midwives Ghana with the TUC, we recognize and honour their invaluable contributions. This affiliation is not just a formal ceremony, it is a testament to our shared values and collective vision”, he said.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Union in Accra,Mr Ansah said it was a commitment to work together, to advocate better working conditions, fair wages, and the professional development of its members.
It is a pledge to stand united in the face of challenges and to strive for a future where every worker’s rights are respected and upheld.

“As we move forward, let us remember that our strength lies in our unity. Let us continue to support each other, to lift each other up, and to work tirelessly for the betterment of all workers”, he added.

Mr Maxwell Oduro Yeboah, National President of UPNMG, said the Union would acquaint itself with the TUC’s constitution and would count on the organization’s support to overcome the professional nursing body challenges.

He gave assurances that the Union would do its best to help in the realization of the vision and mission of TUC.

A certificate of affiliation and the constitution of TUC was presented to the Union to guide them in their activities.
