Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly reshapes roads within three sub metros

Eshiem (WR), Sept. 6, GNA – The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly is reshaping inner and link roads within its three sub metros to enhance mobility in the area.

The reshaping and resurfacing is made possible by the delivering of 16 District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machinery to the Assembly.

The DRIP aims to improve road conditions across all 275 constituencies in Ghana.

President Nana Akufo-Addo launched the DRIP in July.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, addresses concerns from the National Security Ministry about poor road conditions posing a significant national security threat.

Mr. Michael Dzisi, the Metropolitan Works Engineer, said the Eshiem Road was a matter of urgency and would take the Assembly two weeks to clear the edges, put on chipping as well as other resurfacing activities to curb the persistent dust that had troubled members of that community over the period.

Also, the Eno roads to be repaired include the Ahantaman Girls Senior High School Road leading to Ketan township.

From the Essikado Ketan Constituency, the DRIP equipment would move to Takoradi where adjoining and link roads from new Takoradi to Poase would be reactivated.

At Sekondi, roads in Kweikuma would receive some attention.

The Mayor of the Assembly, Mr. Issah Abdul-Mumin, said the equipment could solve road problems across the country.

He said Plant Pool was tasked to maintain the equipment for the next two years while funds would be made available for fueling and daily operations.
