Accra, Sept. 7, GNA – Reigning Ghana Premier League FC Samartex 1996 were held to goalless draw game by Dreams FC in the first game of the season at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Dreams FC were fortunate to get a point, especially after being reduced to 10 men with a quarter of the game remaining.

The “Still Believe” were the better side against the CAF Champions campaigners in the first half of the game, with FC Samartex goalkeeper Kofi Baah making some good saves.

The dry quality of the ground had an impact on the game’s flow, with both teams struggling to hold possession for long.

Emmanuel Mamah, who has been very instrumental for the “Timber Giants” in this season’s CAF Champions League, struggled in the game and virtually had no sight at goal.

Despite being a man down, coach Karim Zito made some changes in the last quarter of the game, which solidified the Dreams FC as they held on to secure a point.

Up next for FC Samartex 1996 would be their second round 2024-25 CAF Champions League clash against Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.
