Over 100 golfers play for recognition in 2024 MTN Invitational Golf tournament 

Accra, Sept 23, GNA – A total of 120 golfers converged at the prestigious Achimota Golf Club, Ghana Premier golf club, to participate in the 2024 MTN Invitational Golf Tournament. 

The tournament brought together amateur golfers invited from the various golf clubs in the country to socialise and compete for laurels. 

At the end of the one day 18-hole competition, Frederick Semenu Duvor and Vastie Amoafo-Yeboah won the men and ladies Group A. 

Frederick, playing with a handicap of 12 returned with 40points to win the group, followed by Justin Butah with handicap 10 returning with 38points while Solomon Allotey playing with handicap 10 also return with 37points to finish third. 

Vastie who plays at the Achimota Golf Club with handicapped 14 returned with 44points to win the ladies Group A followed by Catherine Fabbi, a member of Celebrity Golf Club at Sakumono with handicap 13 also returned with 38points to finish second in the group. 

In the men’s Group B, Simran Oberoi finished first with 43points followed by Walid Zoobi with 41points and Kein Amedoh with 38points while in the ladies Group B, Sheryl Afia Afari won the group with 45points followed by Marlene Tonyingah with 36points. 

In the seniors’ division, Chirs Apau-Opong won the men’s group with a gross score of 37 while Hajia Zenabu Sulemana won the ladies’ group with a gross score of 38. 

Simran Oberoi and Floria Hurtobise won the male and ladies longest drive respectively while Letitia Amponsah-Mensah and Philip Paekes won the men and ladies’ closest to the pin prize. 

Madam Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability officer at MTN Ghana, thanked the golfers for responding to their invitation. 

“We are excited that you did not just show up to play but to also reignite the strong and collaborative relationships we have cultivated over the years. Your presence here today reflects the robust partnerships and the trust that we have built together,” she noted. 

Madam Wiafe mentioned that MTN would continue to research and develop products that would meet the needs of their customers and ensure that they continually improve to meet the ever-changing demands of their customers.
