Keta (VR), Sept. 17, GNA – Mr. Yayra Kwashie Kwaku, the parliamentary aspirant for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) in the Keta Constituency of the Volta Region has pledged to transform Keta as the hub of agricultural production in the region to create jobs for the youth.
He indicated that Keta has all the resources in the field of agriculture to make it the production centre for crops and foods that could boost economic activities in the area.
Mr. Kwashie told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that his objectives were to place agriculture and job creation as priorities to alleviate the rate of unemployment in the area.
“Agriculture is the backbone of every developed or developing country, and my ambition is to create jobs through agriculture by setting up various avenues that would boost crop production,” he stated.
He further noted that crops such as tomatoes, onion, garden eggs, okro, and others that were produced in larger qualities within the area would be processed for ready market to prevent them from perishing.
Mr. Kwashie emphasised that the youth would be encouraged to venture into agriculture by providing them with the needed financial support and guidance.
In the area of sports, he assured us that he would prioritise youth in sports by providing the needed support in the various sporting disciplines.
He said: “When Ghana played against Cote D’lvoire here in the Beach Soccer AFCON qualifiers, l supported them. l also supported the Anlo-Afiadenyigba Volleyball Team with a playing net and a set of jerseys. I am also putting up the under-20 youth team to unearth more talents in sports.”
He explained that residents of Keta have suffered over the years in terms of development, job creation, health and educational infrastructures, and roads, where he pledged that the narrative would change when he assumed power after the December polls.
Mr. Kwashie, a first-time aspirant, has appealed to all eligible voters to vote for him on Election Day to enable him to implement the numerous ambitions and plans for the development of the area.
Mr. Goldberg-Grimm Hope Courage Lekettey of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpe, the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirant who is seeking a second term have all filed their nominations to contest in the December 7, polls.
