Licensed Surveyors urged to form consortiums to stay afloat

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA – The Lands Commission has issued certificates to 50 Licensed Surveyors to assist in land title registration processes across the country. 

The Commission selected them for licensing after undergoing rigorous interview sessions and examinations to meet the requisite standards required by the profession. 

The Licensed Surveyors, who would serve as Agents for the Commission, were charged to organise themselves into consortiums to secure contracts in order to stay in business. 

Speaking during the Licensing Awards Ceremony for the Surveyors in Accra on Thursday, Mr Benjamin Arthur, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, entreated the surveyors to exhibit high standards of integrity and professionalism in their work. 

“As ambassadors of the Commission, you must be a shining example and be known for good deeds, to enhance our service delivery and corporate image,”Mr Arthur said. 

The Executive Secretary also entreated the surveyors to be abreast with the technological  advancements, and continuously acquire knowledge to stay afloat in the dynamic industry. 

Naa Abukari Abudulai, the Director of Survey and Mapping at the Commission, admonished them to work collaboratively and build bridges across other professions in order to stay in business. 

He urged them to uphold the values of the surveying profession- speed, integrity and precision-endeavouring to be role models to the younger generation of surveyors. 

Mr Alex Quaynor, the National Chairman of the Commission, who chaired the ceremony, underscored the need to sanitise the land administration regime by eliminating unprofessional persons practising as surveyors. 

He reiterated the need for licensed surveyors to adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession and advancing the cause of the Commission to improve service delivery to the public. 

Mr Jones Ofori-Boadu, the Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Corporate Services, Lands Commission, advised the surveyors to be truthful to their clients and always endeavour to maintain high standards of integrity, compassion and professionalism in ther work. 

He entreated them to embrace the technological innovation emerging globally, in order to impact the society positively with their knowledge and expertise. 

On his part, Mr Samuel Larbi Darko, President of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana, stated that the issuance of the licences to their members would advance their work and aid in eradicating quacks from the system. 

The 50 Licensed Surveyors took the Oaths of Office and Allegiance, which were administered by Mr Benjamin Arthur, Executive Secretary of the Commission and Naa Abukari Abudulai, Director of Survey and Mapping at the Commission, respectively.
