Keta (VR), Sept. 12, GNA-Mr Goldberg-Grimm Hope Courage Lekettey, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary aspirant in the Keta Constituency of the Volta region has announced over 54 per cent win during the upcoming Parliamentary polls.
Mr Lekettey, who has filed his nomination to contest for the Keta seat, charged all to rally behind the NPP to win power for the continuity of developmental projects in the area.
Mr Lekettey, briefing the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of filing his form, stated that the NPP had been working tirelessly to snatch the seat from Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpe, the incumbent NDC candidate in the December elections.
“Yes, it is possible, and we are doing a lot by creating awareness and revealing to the youth about the numerous opportunities the NPP has created over the years. We will continue to do more when we retain power,” he stated.
He noted that the party had embarked on community engagement exercises to campaign to gather more votes for victory.
Mr Lekettey alleged that the NDC had never done enough for the constituency since Keta, which was the powerhouse and the hometown of the party’s founder, the late Jerry John Rawlings.
“We are winning the Keta parliamentary seat by at least 54 per cent. l promised you, Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia will also win the Presidential election in this year’s polls.”
Mr Lekettey, who is contesting for the first time, said the opposition NDC and their flagbearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama have nothing to offer Ghanaians so they must be rejected the second coming of an incompetent party that had jeopardised the country’s economy previously.
He urged his constituents to come out in their numbers on the day of the election and vote massively for him as well as Dr Mahamadu Bawumia for progress.
Mr Lekettey promised to prioritise the welfare of the youth by creating more jobs and opportunities.
Meanwhile, Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpe, the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament, won the 2020 Keta parliamentary election with 31,470 votes which represented 85.8 per cent.
In 2020, Mr Dzamesi Benjamin Sena Kwame, who contested on the ticket of the NPP gathered 5,037 votes representing 13.7 per cent, the highest since 1992 with CPP’s Amtepeyt Blaise Edem having 166 votes of 0.5 votes.
Some 50,330 eligible voters are expected to cast their votes during this year.
