Israel attacks Hezbollah positions in Lebanon

Tel Aviv, Sept 14, (dpa/GNA) – The Israeli air force attacked several Hezbollah militia weapons depots in the interior of Lebanon on Saturday evening, an army spokesman said.

The attacks were flown in the areas of the Bekaa Plain and the city of Baalbek, around 140 kilometres from the border.

The area is considered a Hezbollah stronghold.

Hezbollah weapons depots were also attacked at seven different locations in southern Lebanon.

Since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Islamist Hamas almost a year ago, there have been military confrontations between the Israeli army and Hezbollah in the border area between the two countries on an almost daily basis.

There have been casualties on both sides, most of them members of Hezbollah.

Hezbollah says it is acting in solidarity with Hamas.
