CONAKRY, Sept. 8, (Xinhua/GNA) — Around 2.5 million children aged under 5 years, are the focus of a national polio vaccination campaign launched Saturday in Kindia in eastern Guinea, according to official sources.
The campaign will cover 21 health districts across the country, providing additional doses of vaccines to combat the disease, which causes paralysis in young children, said Oumar Diouhe Bah, minister of health and public hygiene.
He added that health facilities have sufficient vaccines to protect children in at-risk areas.
