Biakoye DCE receives honorary award for promoting tourism

Dambai (O/R), Sept. 21, GNA – Madam Millicent Kabuki Carboo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye District of the Oti Region, has been recognised for her outstanding contributions to promoting tourism in the region by the Ghana Tourism Authority. 

The recognition was bestowed on the recipient at the Oti version of the GTA awards night, Friday. 

The honorary award acknowledges Madam Carboo’s tireless efforts in showcasing the district’s rich cultural diversity and natural attractions, including Konklobi Island, water cascades, and caves at Bowiri Aboabo, and the Beachfront at Odormitor. 

Under her leadership, the Biakoye District Assembly has initiated projects to boost tourism, such as the Biakoye District Assembly Festival (BiDAFEST), which celebrates the district’s unique heritage and traditions. 

Madam Carboo’s vision for tourism development in Biakoye District aligns with her overall commitment to improving the lives of residents through sustainable economic growth and job creation. 

The award was a testament to Madam Carboo’s dedication to promoting tourism as a vital sector for economic development in Biakoye District. 

Mr Carboo said she was overwhelmed with gratitude and humidity as she received the prestigious honorary award and assured to continuing her partnership to promote tourism growth and development in Ghana. 

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), she said the award was not just a testament to her efforts but also a reflection of the tireless work with her team and the community who have supported her every step she took. 

She applauded the Ghana Tourism Authority’s relentless efforts in promoting Ghana’s tourism potential and their dedication to enhancing the visitors experience and fighting against poor customer services.
