Kasoa (C/R), Sept 3, GNA – Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stormed Kasoa with his campaign ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The Vice President, who is the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), started his campaign from Second, a suburb of Kasoa amidst interaction with traders and hawkers along the highway.

He visited the palace of Odikro of Kasoa, Nai Mohammed Sani Seidu Yussif III, and met religious groups.

He paid a courtesy call on Nai Awushi Tetteh II, chief of  Odupong- Ofaakor-Kpehe at his palace and later joined the people of Awutu Bereku to celebrate this year’s Awubia festival.

During the campaign, he touted his achievements including the implementation of 33 policies as Vice President and challenged the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama to point out a single policy he implemented as Vice President.

He mentioned the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy despite the NDC’s initial skeptism about it.

Similarly, the NPP restored teacher and nursing training allowance and executed the issuance of the ‘Ghana Card’ amongst other achievements.

He said that the Ghana card was now accepted as a passport document in 44 countries worldwide, including Canada, China UK and the USA.

According to him, the NDC failed to provide chalk to basic schools, however under the NPP laptops and tablets had been procured for teachers and SHS students respectively, indicating an upgrade of education under the NPP.

As part of the visit, Dr Bawumia commissioned the headquarters of the Central East Regional Police Command in Kasoa.

He urged the populace to vote for him as president because he would be a “brand new” president if elected, whilst voting for John Mahama would mean having a “second-hand” president.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mrs Mavis Hawa Koomson, said Dr Bawumia was the best candidate to continue the works of President Akufo-Addo, and that urged voters to vote for him as the next president and for her as MP for Awutu Senya East.
