He warned that such inducements could be used to manipulate citizens, potentially leading to chaotic situations that could disrupt the smooth conduct of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

Speaking during the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting 2024 held at Aburi, Mr Akyaw, also cautioned against the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation, which can damage the reputations of people.

He emphasised the importance of making every effort to verify information before sharing it to prevent the spread of false news.

He said it was worth important to note that the Election Security Task Force had been formed to clamp down on suspects in communities who will attempt to disturb Ghana’s peace.

He assured that the right of voters to vote was guaranteed with the hope of effective measures that the committee was putting in place.

Representatives from the security agencies, including Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Immigration Service pledged their support to ensure peace prevails before, during, and after the upcoming general elections.

They reiterated their commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment in the Akuapim South municipality.

During the committee meeting, both members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gave assurances that they would advise their followers not to condone or connive with any miscreant or unethical character that could jeopardize the peace of the municipality.

They also reiterated their commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and resolving disputes through dialogue.

A peace communique was signed by both the NDC and NPP as a peace accord for the 2024 general elections.

This agreement aims to promote peace and stability in the Akuapim South municipality during the election period.
