AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Otto Addo holds first training session with 10 players

Accra, Sept. 03, GNA – Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo held his first training session with his team ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match opener against Angola on Thursday. 

A total of 10 players, led by Captain Thomas Partey were present at today’s training session held at the Accra Sports Stadium. 

There were concerns raised about the availability of the Black Stars technical team following their unfortunate accident yesterday, but gaffer Otto Addo was present at the training grounds, looking fit for the task ahead. 

He was accompanied by his two assistants Joseph Painstil and Fatawu Dauda who were also involved in the unfortunate accident. 

Coach Otto Addo took his players through some light stretching, passing and shooting drills that lasted over an hour. 

Jonas Adjei Adjetey, who received a late call up to replace injured Alexander Djiku, also took part in the training drills in his first stint with the national team. 

Some notable absentees on the first day of training include Jordan Ayew, Kudus Mohammed, Inaki Williams and a host of others who are expected to join the team later on Monday. 

The team is expected to depart for Kumasi on Tuesday to continue preparations for Thursday’s encounter with the Palancas Negras of Angola.
