Accra, Sept. 9, GNA – Lead for Ghana, a non-profit organisation focused on transforming education, has sworn in 227 graduates to its training institute for the 2024 fellowship.
The graduates would undergo two weeks of on-site training and be deployed to teach at under-resourced schools across the country after the course.
At the induction event in Accra on Monday, Mr. Daniel Dotse, Chief Executive Officer, Lead for Ghana, said the goal of the organization was to inspire revolutionary change in the educational system and empower young people to be change agents.
He urged the fellows to do more than just teach; they should inspire curiosity, start conversations, and empower the next generation to think critically.
Mr. Dotse also challenged them to face issues head on, rather than back down.
“You will face challenges; whether it is inadequate resources, skepticism from others, or moments of doubt in yourself. But remember, progress comes from those who dare to be bold in the face of adversity,” he said.
Prof. Francis K.E. Nunoo, Deputy Director-General, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), who spoke on behalf of Dr Yaw Adutwum, Minister of Education, also charged the fellows to commit and dedicate themselves to the task ahead.
He emphasized that the youth should recognize that they carry the goals and aspirations of the entire country with them, as their roles as educators and leaders would be important in defining Ghana’s future.
Mr. Roger Aikins, General Manager, Commercial and Human Resource, Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL), urged the fellows to create lasting impacts wherever they would be posted to teach.
He said his organisation would support them with the tools and guidance necessary for the execution of the task ahead.
