Accra, Aug. 16, GNA – A group by the name ‘People’s National Convention (PNC) Constituency Executive Ladies,’ has picked a nomination form for Mr Yakubu Faharudeen, to contest for the General Secretary position of the Party.
The ladies who were from the La Dade-Kotopon, Korley Klottey, and Ledzokuku constituencies, picked the forms on his behalf at the PNC headquarters in Accra.
Mr Faharudeen, who is the current Deputy General Secretary of the PNC, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, having served the party right after his tertiary education, he had been acquainted with its principles and vision, acquiring the necessary knowledge and experience to push the party to the next level.
He promised to abide by the principles of the party’s internal elections and expressed hope and confidence that the delegates would give him the nod to continue serving diligently to increase the party’s chances of restoring hope to ordinary Ghanaians.
He assured party members of expanding the membership of the PNC by engaging with the youth, especially those who had lost interest in the electoral process and detached themselves from political parties, to bring their expertise on board for the development of the party and the nation at large.
Mr Faharudeen explained that the Greater Accra Regional branch of the party had been well organised under his leadership and pledged his readiness to do the same for the other regions by bringing in more vibrant youth, grooming the brilliant ones in various sectors of the economy, and giving them the platform to work for the betterment of the party.
He explained that the youth’s active contribution to the party could overturn results in the elections in their favour, indicating that continuous capacity building would be organised for members to project the image of the party at the local and national level.
The aspiring general secretary reiterated that the party would not relent on its plans to promote effective youth participation in politics and add their voices in decision-making.
He urged party supporters to remain resolute and rally strongly behind the leaders to defeat the two main political parties to achieve its objectives for better economic development and growth of Ghana.
Mr Faharudeen emphasised the need for a united front, hard work, and commitment to help compete with other political parties, adding that the party was determined to work extra hard and get parliamentary seats and win the 2024 elections.
