Sefwi Wiawso (WN/R), Aug. 6, GNA – Mr Gordon Amoh Boahen, the Western North Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has urged staff of the Scheme to work assiduously to achieve its set targets for this year.

The performance of the Region for the first half year was not encouraging, he said, so they must double up their efforts to meet their goals.

He made the call when the Western North Regional NHIS held its 2024 mid-year performance review meeting, at Sefwi Wiawso.

Mr Boahen stated that the Region had had an NHIS membership of 406,304, representing 63.3 per cent of its targets for the half of 2024.

He assured the various district offices of working with management to fill all vacant positions to enhance efficiency in service delivery.

He said the National Health Insurance had added the cost of dialysis to its benefit packages to reduce the cost of treatment for patients.

The Regional Director applauded the Executive Management of the Authority for also including Family Planning and the four childhood cancers in the benefit package of the Scheme.

“Just this week, the Authority launched the NHIS Free Preventive Health Care, where Ghanaians aged 18 and above will be given the opportunity to go for free medical check-ups on their birthdays. The check-ups will be based on sugar level, Blood Pressure, and weight among others,” Mr Boahen said.

The meeting was attended by the Regional Operations Manager of the NHIS, Mr Kofi Baffour Asare, and the Regional Administration Manager; Mr Eric Amoako, as well as some selected staff from the various districts.
