Tema, Aug. 22, GNA-Ms. Felicia Edem Attipoe, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has disclosed that the Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) has completed 37 projects in the first half of the year.

Ms Attipoe said the 37 formed part of 110 planned projects, adding that 42 of the projects were ongoing, while 31 were yet to commence.

She said the projects spanned across education, health, and roads.

She said this during a public financial management town hall meeting at the Tema Community Two Zonal Area and mentioned that the assembly used more than 60 per cent of its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) to improve infrastructure and sanitation services in the municipality.

She said the projects included the completion of a six-unit classroom block at Star Basic School, a two-storey, 12-unit classroom block at Adje Kodjo, a police station at Tema Community Two and Kanewu, and a 10-seater WC toilet facility at Number One Basic School, Community 5.

Others are the renovation of BBC Daycare at Community Two and the resurfacing of Paul Victor Obeng Runabout to Crismon Hotel Road.

The MCE added that the TWMA was lobbying for the reconstruction of the Community 2 market into a modern market edifice.

Regarding revenue generation, she said the assembly targeted a total revenue of GHC26,139,015.95 but was able to accrue 80.53 per cent, adding that the IGF for 2023 amounted to GHC14,858,280.80.

She said the total targeted revenue for this year was GHC 27,706, 589.79, out of which 43.5 per cent had been realised at the end of the first half of the year, noting that IGF collected for the same period was 7,830,362.46, representing 65 per cent of the total revenue.

“We seek to deepen our revenue collection drive by enhancing our data collection in the municipality and the selection of new pay points to reduce travel time and intensify our public education and certification programme,” Ms Attipoe stated.

Meanwhile, during an open forum, residents raised concerns on sanitation, poor roads, the ineffectiveness of the Unit Committee Members, and many others, to which the MCE assured that the assembly was committed to solving the challenges gradually and charged the participants to play their roles in ensuring that the issues are tackled.
