Accra, Aug 30, GNA – The Parliament of Ghana, under the auspices of Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will on Saturday, August 31, host the 2024 edition of the Speaker’s Seminal Lecture.
A statement issued by the Public Affairs Subdivision of Parliament, copied to the Ghana News Agency said the event was scheduled to take place at the Dr Andani Andan Academic Board Chamber, University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, Northern Region.
It said this year’s lecture, on the theme: “Working Together, Building Trust for a Free, Fair, Credible, and Peaceful Elections 2024: The Role of Stakeholders”, would be delivered by Professor Kwesi Aning, a distinguished scholar and expert in security, governance, and international relations and Mr Kofi Bentil, a private legal practitioner and Vice President of Imani Africa.
The statement said the Speaker’s Seminal Lecture series served as a platform for dialogue on critical national issues, promoting understanding, and collaboration.
It said the event would bring together Members of Parliament, Government officials, representatives from political parties, civil society organisations, academia, the diplomatic community, and the media.
It encouraged the public to engage in this Important dialogue, which was central to the democratic process.
It noted that they looked forward to a thought-provoking and impactful lecture that would foster collaboration and trust among all stakeholders as we work toward free, fair, credible, and peaceful elections in 2024.
