Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – The Ranis Foundation, a charitable organization, has donated to the Akokoasa AEDA Primary School in the Agona East District of the Central Region.
The donation was to give a new lease to the students who currently study in deplorable classrooms.
Some seven packets of roofing sheets and 10 buckets of paint was donated to give the school a facelift.
Making the donation, the Rev. Kweku Boakye Sarpong, Director of the Foundation, said education played an integral role in the country’s development.
Education, he said, remained a beacon of hope for many in rural communities of Ghana.
However, he observed that the promise of a brighter future was often dimmed by the stark reality of inadequate educational infrastructure.
That, Rev. Sarpong said, necessitated the gesture to refurbish the dilapidated structures to give the pupils some reprieve.
He called on contractors to speed up the renovation works to ensure that when students resumed from vacation, they would have some comfort.
Mr Noah K. Ahiale, Headmaster of the Akokoasa AEDA Primary School, thanked the Foundation for the kind gesture as it would improve teaching and learning.
He admitted that the school in its 26 years of existence had no kindergarten.
Without that, Mr Ahiale said, their early foundation could be compromised, preventing them from achieving their educational goals.
