Preach peace ahead of 2024 election – Pastor urges Ghanaians

By Yussif Ibrahim

Obuasi (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA – A pastor of the Church of Pentecost has admonished Ghanaians to desist from tendencies that could plunge the country into chaos ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Prophet David KanKam Beditor, the Obuasi Area Head of the Church, emphasised the need for all stakeholders to preach peace and embrace tolerance to protect Ghana’s enviable reputation as the beacon of peace in the sub-region beyond the December polls.

He was speaking at a ceremony to dedicate a new church building to the glory of God at Kunka New Town, a suburb of Obuasi in the Obuasi Municipality.

The building named after the late Deaconess Cecilia Asare, a dedicated member of the Church, was built at a cost of more than GH¢1.247 million.

It was funded through a headquarters grant, area grant, district support, local offerings, and individual donations.

In attendance were Reverend Ministers, church elders, traditional leaders, family members of the late Deaconess Cecilia Asare, and other notable guests.

The dedication ceremony was led by Prophet Beditor, and assisted by Pastor Benjamin Sarpong Mensah, the Kunka New Town District pastor.

Prophet Beditor reminded the gathering that the Church could only thrive and win souls for God in a peaceful environment and stressed the need for all to commit to a peaceful election.

In his sermon, he stated that the Church was God’s family and that God built the church to train and prepare His children for good works.

The Obuasi Area Head praised the late Deaconess Cecilia Asare for her dedication to God’s work and sacrifices and contributions to the growth of the Church.

He highlighted instances where she had to sell her belongings to support God’s work and urged Christians to emulate her exemplary life and strive to leave a good name and legacy.

Mr Daniel Asare, a son of the late Deaconess Cecilia Asare, thanked the church for honouring their mother’s memory, stating that it was a testament to the church’s recognition of good work and sacrifices.

He indicated that his late mother dedicated most of her life to serving the Lord and was always available to offer her savings to God.
