Nkwanta (O/R), Aug. 22, GNA – Madam Sherifa Sekyere-Tijani, the Nkwanta South Constituency Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has trained over 800 women in various skills.
The training was a collaboration between the PC and the ‘Aseda’ Foundation based in Takoradi in the Western Region.
Madam Sekyere-Tijani, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the training aimed to equip the women with valuable skills to improve their economic prospects and contribute to the growth of the area.
She said the initiative was part of her efforts to address the skills gap and promote inclusive development in the Constituency.
Madam Gifty Mpeniasah, the Nkwanta South Constituency Women Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, emphasised the importance of empowering women.
She said that when women were equipped with the right skills, they would become catalyst for change, driving progress in their families, communities, and the nation at large.
Madam Mpeniasah urged the beneficiaries to make a better living out of the skills they had acquired to tackle poverty in their families.
“I want to urge you all to vote for Madam Sherifa Sekyere-Tijani and Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia come December 7 for more initiatives,” she said.
The women were trained on soap making, bead making pastries making, among others.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity, citing improved confidence and economic prospects.
Madam Monfakye Peace, one of the beneficiaries, said the training had given her new skills and ideas as a tailor.
