Accra, Aug. 31, GNA – The Government has paid the West African Examination Council (WAEC) GHS50 million for the conduct of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The Government says the disbursement reaffirms its commitment to fulfilling the financial obligations to WAEC and ensure that the Council’s operations continue without interruption.
This was in a statement signed by Mr Kwasi Kwarteng, Spokesperson, Ministry of Education, and copied to the Ghana News Agency.
“We wish to reassure all stakeholders especially students, parents, guardians, and the public of the Ministry’s dedication to sustaining an environment that fosters seamless, efficient and high-quality education for all Ghanaian students,” it said.
The Government in June 2024, paid WAEC an amount of GHS47 million for the conduct of the BECE, out of the GHS 95.83 million debt.
