FDA trains warehouse and storage facilities owners in Sefwi-Wiawso

 Sefwi-Wiawso (WN/R), Aug. 31, GNA – The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in Western North Region has held a day’s training workshop for warehouse and storage facility  owners with a call on them to always adhere to all the lay down rules and regulations pertaining to storage. 

The training workshop, dubbed “Good storage and distribution practices for cold and dry food facilities,” was attended by cold stores and rooms, food warehouses owners from seven out of the nine districts in the Western North Region. 

Mr Albert Ankamah, the Regional Director of the FDA, said  the training was to educate the participants on best storage practices. 

He said the training would further enable the participants to understand the guidelines on how best to store food and other products in order not to fall foul of the law, and also educate participants on quality management, records and documentation, to ensure easy traceability of products if there was a problem. 

The Regional Director used the opportunity to advised consumers to always check the labels on products and read the instructions from the manufacturer for a better understanding on each product. 

He urged consumers to always report cases of expired products to the Food and Drugs Authority on time to ensure consumers are  protected. 

Mr Suleman Abdullah, the owner of Big Family Enterprise, on behalf of the participants lauded said the training was welcoming as it would go a long way to guide them on the best storage practices which would go a long way to protect their consumers. 

He called for a broader consultation between consumers, storage facility owners and the FDA to ensure consumers were protected.
