Ho, Aug. 30, GNA – Mr. Divine Bosson, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, has said the Government’s latest effort at wholistic road improvement would greatly complement an ongoing campaign by the Assembly.
The government recently launched the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) that provided each district in the country with sets of road construction equipment, and the Ho Municipal Assembly received its first batch of machines.
The MCE, taking delivery of the equipment, said an ongoing road infrastructure development initiative by the Assembly nicknamed the Road Train, suffered lag due to the lack of equipment.
He therefore said the DRIP provided an extended lifeline for the efforts, and that the Assembly would ensure all communities made benefit.
The Municipality received one each of bulldozers, road graders, and axle trucks as part the first consignment, and the MCE said the second batch, which would be delivered soon, would provide the Assembly with a significant pool of equipment.
“We are ready to make your roads motorable now. We have all the equipment to make the roads motorable,” he said.
Mr. Bosson stated the formation of a multi-sectorial team to manage the State programme, and assured us of proper use of equipment, adding that bureaucratic barriers and others would be eliminated to ensure timely implementation.
He said the equipment would be test run on selected roads in the coming days, and that the Assembly hoped to provide bitumen asphalt for some roads as part of the program.
Addressing concerns with progress of existing road projects, the MCE said the release of about GHC20 million under the Urban Development Grant was being expected sooner for their completion.
He said the Assembly was actively ensuring that the various projects provided needed drain infrastructure for the flood prone Municipality.
