Agona-Nkwanta (W/R), Aug. 7, GNA- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ahanta-West constituency, Mrs Mavis Kuukua Bissue Boateng, has built a new market shed for the market women in the Municipality.
The move followed a petition by the market women to her office to ease the congestion at the market.
Commissioning the new market shed at a short but impressive ceremony at the Agona-Nkwanta market square, Mrs Bissue Boateng said she felt the need to respond swiftly to the needs of the market women taking cognizance of the fact that their livelihoods and very existence hinged on the market.
She reiterated her resolve to expand and modernize the entire market when she emerged as a Member of Parliament in the December general elections.
That, Mrs Bissue Boateng noted, would meet the ever-increasing demands of traders and buyers in and around the area.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate also indicated that the market expansion would empower the women economically to augment the upkeep of their families.
The Agona-Nkwanta market had for the past decade been the centre for commercial activities bringing traders and buyers from the Nzema, Tarkwa and Takoradi areas to transact businesses.
