Bibiani (WN/R), Aug. 26, GNA- Some 30 young people in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region are set to receive financial assistance from the Ghana Enterprises Agency’s (GEA) jobs and skills initiative, dubbed: “YouStart.”

According to Nana Prempeh Agyemang Duah, the Municipal Director of the Business Resource Centre, his outfit provided entrepreneurship training to over 125 youths who could start their businesses.

He said the number was later trimmed to 30 where they went through three levels of entrepreneurship training namely: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.

“The training was conducted and delivered using an experiential and participatory approach conducive to adult learning,” he added.

Nana Duah indicated that the participants were also taken through mentorship and coaching support, preparation of business plans, and meeting business registration and licensing requirements.

He said the start-up grants were expected to be used for the purchase of machinery and equipment, raw materials, and payment for technical advisory services.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Mr Paul Andoh, said the youth entrepreneurship and start-up grants were expected to culminate in job creation and sustainability, business innovation, and growth for enterprises owned by the beneficiaries.

“This will also lead to the reduction of social vices mainly due to unemployment amongst the youth,” he stated.

He asked the potential beneficiaries who would receive support ranging from GHC10,000 to GHC100,000) to use the money for the intended purposes.

Some participants thanked the government for the initiative and promised to use the grants judiciously upon receipt.
