Adaklu Torda (V/R), Aug. 30, GNA – Thirty-three young women farmers in the Adaklu Torda Electoral Area in the Adaklu District were on Thursday presented with farming implements.

Each of them received one knapsack spraying machine, a pair of wellington boots, weedicides, and a pack of maize seeds.

The items were donated by Cosmos Innovation Centre (KIC), in collaboration with Master Card Foundation, both non-governmental organisations related to agriculture.

Madam Mercy Tuffour, a representative of KIC, presenting the items noted that the two organizations were keen on helping farmers, especially women to be well resourced to enable them to expand their farms.

She told the women that they should not see farming as a part-time but as a serious business.

“Farming is a very lucrative business that needs a lot of resources to be invested into to enable farmers to improve on their harvests,” she stated.

Madam Eugenia Bruce, Adaklu District Director of Department of Agriculture assured farmers in the district that her outfit would continue to provide them with the requisite technical advice on the modernization of agriculture.

She said the government was investing a lot of resources into agriculture to make it attractive to the youth.

Mr. Belove Akpalu, Assemblyman for Adaklu Torda Electoral Area was full of praise for the two organisations for the donation.

He appealed to the beneficiaries to use the items well to encourage donors to contact others.
