GNFS investigates Otwenkwanta road crash involving seven firefighters

Accra, July 22, GNA – The Ghana National Fire Service is investigating the cause of a road incident at Otwenkwanta, on the outskirts of Kade in the Eastern Region, that injured seven firefighters.

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 0908 hours, when a fire tender from the Kade Fire Station was involved in an accident while responding to an emergency.

This was contained in a statement issued by ACFO I Timothy Asafo-Affum, Director of Public Relations and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra.

It said five of the seven injured firefighters were admitted to Akwatia St. Dominic’s Hospital, with two in severe condition at Kade Government Hospital.

“Fortunately, one crew member escaped unhurt, and the cause of the accident is being investigated.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured firefighters and their families. We commend their bravery and wish them a speedy recovery,” the statement said.

The GNFS assured that it was committed to serving the public while also ensuring the safety and well-being of its personnel.
