Accra, July 23, GNA – The 12th edition of the Ghana DJ Awards is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2024, with Joy Prime as official media partner.
Produced by Merqury Republic, this year’s edition, launched Saturday at the Multimedia Group Limited premises in Accra, is themed: “United by Music”.
Ms Emily Nyarko, Channel Manager, Joy Prime, was elated about the Station’s association with the prestigious event.
“Partnering with the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards aligns perfectly with our vision to showcase and elevate the diverse musical landscape of Ghana,” she said in a press statement, and thanked organisers for trusting Joy Prime to feed viewers with exclusive content.
Headline sponsor, Guinness Ghana, were also pleased to be associated with the event for the second year.
Nana Yaa Amoah Owusu, Marketing Manager for the Spirit and RTDs category of the Company, said the event, this year, aimed at promoting female DJs.
To that end, he said an all-female DJ concert would be held to discover and celebrate the dexterity of females in the sector.
Mr David Quaye, Coordinator, Merqury Republic, highlighted activities such as the “Pub Festival” and the “Ghana DJ Clinic” which will precede the main event.
The Ghana DJ Clinic is the educational arm of the award scheme which empowers DJs through conferences and other educational programmes.
The Coordinator said the Regional Category of the awards which was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak had been reintroduced.
A host of young talents will compete for the coveted Best DJ of the Year, Afrobeat DJ of the Year, Female DJ of the Year, Discovery DJ of the Year, and Event DJ of the Year, among other categories.
DJ Lord OTB won the ultimate prize in 2023 as the Guinness Ghana DJ of the Year, and would be hoping to retain the title this year.
