Tarkwa (W/R), Oct. 27, GNA-A total of 1,312 delegates in the Tarkwa-Nsueam constituency are ready to cast their ballots in the New Patriotic Partys (NPPs) Presidential primary on Saturday November 4, 2023.
Preparations are almost done for all delegates, who are eligible to elect a flag bearer for the party in the 2024 general election.
Mr Ebenezer Atuahene Anane, Communication Director, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Tarkwa, that the election would take place at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, and voting would start at 07:00 hours and close at 1400 hours.
He said though leadership of the party had agreed that delegates should have either a voter identification card, passport, Ghana card or party card, to qualify any delegate to vote, some executives in the Tarkwa-Nsueam constituency raised concerns.
“We are pleading that, if a delegate does not have the approved voting materials, but his or her name and photograph is on the party’s album, and the agents of the four presidential aspirants agree, leaders in the party should reconsider this and allow such delegates to cast their ballot” said Mr Anane
The four contenders in the NPP Presidential race are; Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP), Assin Central, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, former Minister of Food and Agriculture and MP for Kwadaso and Mr Francis Addai-Nimoh, former Asante Mampong MP.
