Takoradi, Oct. 23, GNA – The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), has asked residents in the Metropolis to disregard rumours making waves on social media about alleged plans to restrict movements and commercial activities for the burial of the late Takoradi Amanful Chief.
A statement issued and signed by Mr John Latse, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the STMA, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi, said “The attention of the management of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), has been drawn to an audio circulating on social media alleging restriction of movement and commercial activities for the burial of the late Takoradi Amanful Chief from Thursday 26th October 2023,” and refuted the said audio.
The Assembly, through the statement, urged residents in the Metropolis to disregard the said information.
Meanwhile, the Assembly said it would at the right time communicate to residents, the agreed arrangements with the Takoradi Amanful Palace to enable them to perform their traditional rites for the burial of the late chief.
Mr Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan, Media Aide at the Palace, has confirmed that Osahene Katakyie Busumakura lll, Takoradimanhene, had not ordered the closure of any shop or any other business centre, and urged residents to disregard same.
