Ofori Asare nominated as AFBC coaches committee member

Accra, Dec. 29, GNA – Mr. Ofori Asare, Head Trainer of Ghana’s Amateur Boxing team, Black Bombers has been nominated to serve on the seven-member Coaches Committee of the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC). 

The trainer has over the years helped in the projection of African Boxing, having trained some top boxers who have represented Ghana on the international front. 

The appointed coaches, who would serve on the committee would be headed by Nadia Mohammed of Egypt as the other members are Tvhwem Justin, Azzedine Aggoune, Andile Mofu, Mpendulo Sunset Mbingo, Benjamin Moses Oyombi, and Ghana’s Ofori Asare.

The experienced trainer led Ghana to win three medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as the West African side was ranked eighth in the overall event. 

Through his continuous impact, Black Bombers has now become a reliable team for Ghana at international competitions, having consistently won laurels for the nation.

Coach Asare has in previous years, trained the likes of World Champion Isaac Dogbey, Olympic medalist Samuel Takyi, and some other boxing champions. 

Ahead of the 13th African Games in Ghana, the nominated African coaches would hope to contribute in the area of Boxing to make the continental competition successful.
