Accra, Nov. 1, GNA – The Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) has shortlisted winners for this year’s literary awards.
The 6th GAW Literary Awards will be held in November 2022 on the theme: “Honouring Literary Excellence.”
A statement signed by the GAW Committee and copied to the Ghana News Agency, named the shortlisted winners in the various categories.
The winners in the Novel Category: ‘The new currency’ by Ajoa Yeboah-Afari, ‘The illegitimate prince’ by Empi Baryeh, and URBAN SOJOURN by Solomon Kuu-Ire while the Short Story Category has ‘Mariah’s wonder’ by Doris Akosua Tay.
The Spoken word category has ‘The man Kwame Nkrumah’ by Osman Abraham Lincoln, ‘I am not a mother’ by Apiorkor Seyram Ashong – Abbey, and ‘Letter to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’ by Nana Fredua -Agyeman Jnr.
In the Poetry Category: ‘Aguriboma’ by Azaks Gandaah, ‘Lyrical textiles’ by Gabriel Awuah Mainoo, and ‘My generation and other poems’ by Victor Nana Odei Ofei.
Children’s story book: ‘Slum formula’ by Silas Selorm, ‘EVen when your voice shakes’ by Ruby Yayra Goka, and ‘King goat aponkye’ by Mariska ArabaTaylor-Darko.
Creative non-fiction Category: ‘Revitalising mission and missiology’ by Vincent Anane Denteh, ‘Steps for the progress of the black race’ by Richard D Nimako, and ‘Faith to conquer and step out’ by Kofi Adjei.
Ghanaian language special award Category: ‘Mfantse nsenii na nsiesie’ by Ebenezer Koomson.
Math and science special award Category: ‘The adventures of hurricane and tornado’ (Part 2. Bringing the water home) by Godfred Edusei Derkyi, and ‘PRactical decision support resources for cardiovascular diseases’ by Michael Opoku Agyemang.
Special award to youngest entrant Category: ‘More nice city’ by Rachel Yram Perpetual Brain Tugbedzo.
The award recognises writers in nine categories, the statement said.
The award is aimed at bringing together all writers including persons interested in writing and creators of literary content in Ghana.
It also creates a forum for the study of Ghanaian literary heritage and exchange of ideas.
