Accra, Aug 31 – The Tema Oak Lions Club, with support from Kans Foundation, has presented an unspecified amount of cash and assorted items to ‘Save Them Young’ orphanage at Tema.
The items which included food stuffs, soft drinks, water and toiletries is expected to be used to support the upkeep of the children at the orphanage.
Presenting the items, the Chapter President of the Tema Oak Lions Club, Lion Anthony Yaw Kontoh said the gesture formed part of activities marking the first anniversary celebration of the club.
He said as a service organisation, the Club was committed to the welfare, moral upbringing and the proper development of the marginalised and deprived in society.
He said as part of activities marking the celebration which falls on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, the club would also identify other pressing needs within their community and help resolve them.
Lion Kontoh entreated the children not to lose hope but work hard to become responsible people in future.
Aside the presentation, members of the club also fêted and interacted with the children on issues relating to personal hygiene.
The Administrator of the orphanage, Ms Linda Amoaben, who received the items, described the donation as timely.
She said the items donated to the orphanage were appropriate and the exact needs of the children.
Shw said the orphanage which was established in 1996 to care for vulnerable children, children without families and abused children in society also provided education and skills training for the children.
She lauded the club and its partners for their decision to visit the orphanage, and promised that the items would be used for their intended purpose.
