Team Move FC wins maiden Cheetah Cup

          Accra, Aug. 22, GNA – Team Move FC, a juvenile football team based in Takoradi beat Mal FC 4-2 on penalties to lift the maiden Cheetah Cup.  

          After the 1-1 regulation time result, Team Move FC went on to beat Mal FC to be crowned the 2022 Cheetah Cup champions. 

          The three-day competition saw 16 teams competed for glory at the Yartel-Okoso Park in Senya Beraku. 

          The winners received 18 gold medals, 15 balls, cons and Ghc2000 whilst Mal FC went away with 10 balls, a set of bibs and Ghc1000 with Nakoro FC who placed third to take 18 bronze medals and five balls from the organisers. 

           For the individual awards, Ernest Atta Darko of GIHOC FC emerged the best goalkeeper to receive a trophy and gloves.  

            Abubakar Sadiq of Beaver won the top goal scorer award whilst Richard Mensah of Team Move FC was named the tournament’s best player and the Fair Play award went to Home Boyz FC.  

          Mr. Abdul Hayye Yartey, the President of Cheetah FC told the GNA Sports that the competition was held to bring juvenile players together to display their talents and also the platform for scouts to select players for clubs. 

           Mr. Yartey, the brain behind the event said the tournament was to develop grassroots football and would make it an annual event. 

          “We’ve spotted some good players and they’ll be nurtured for greater opportunities,” he added.  

          Mad. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, the Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya West commended Mr. Yartey for the laudable initiative which gives the youth the opportunity to compete and also encouraged him not to relent on his efforts in grassroots development in the constituency.  

          She advised the players to focus on their career alongside education to brighten their lives.
