Hohoe (V/R), Aug 1, GNA – Reverend Father Isaac Benuyenah, Parish Priest of the St Augustine Catholic Church, Hohoe, has admonished citizens to reach out to the needy in their various communities and help them.
He said, “these are the people we should celebrate in society because they don’t have anybody for them and if we are not there for them, nobody thinks of them and welcomes them.”
Rev. Fr. Benuyenah speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a special celebration Mass for a parishioner, Veronica Ahiaba, said the Church had taken the lead and showed the way with the hope that others would follow.
“I just pray that people will look at the needy not necessarily celebrating them in this big fashion but then the little things that they will do them to help them.”
“Veronica Ahiaba is a baptised Catholic and despite vulnerability, she has always acknowledged God in her life and will attend Mass when she is touched. However, she makes sure her presence is noticed at Mass.
“She is not only known to the parishioners of the St Augustine Catholic Church but also all and sundry in Hohoe as she is described as one of “Hohoe Legends” who would dance to all beats unless there is no song and also sings so well.”
Rev. Fr. Benuyenah said Ahiaba was the “uninvited guest” to all occasions in Hohoe, who brought joy and put a smile on the lips of mourning hearts at funerals.
He described her as a gift to Hohoe and the St Augustine Catholic Church and they would not wait till her death before celebrating her.
Rev. Fr. Benuyenah expressed gratitude to all donors who supported the Church with acquiring the items needed to support Ahiaba.
We aim to buy a nice bed and a mattress for this beautiful Legend with proceeds from our celebration today.
Madam Evelyn Crentsil, on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to the priest, parishioners and donors for their gesture and support towards Sali Yawa.
The day also marked the “Rep your School” edition of the Church and a mini harvest by July borns.
