Accra, Aug 24, GNA – 85 Clan houses in the La Dadekotopon municipality have received food items from the Member of Parliament for the area, Madam Rita Odoley Sowah, in support of the annual Homowo celebrations.
The gesture by the MP is to aid in the preparation of the traditional festive meal, ‘Kpokpoi’ by the various clan houses who are celebrating the festival for the first time in three years after the death and burial of the paramount chief, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru in accordance with customs and traditions of the La people.
The items, including maize, palm nuts and smoked fish were distributed among the La Traditional Council and the 85 clan houses.
Madam Sowah said as people-centered indigenes, residents should not hesitate to participate in the festival with friends and loved ones who may visit from far and near.
She however entreated them to be moderate in their merrymaking to avoid any unforeseen circumstances, and reiterated the need for residents to stay united now and after the celebration.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to the GNA commended the MP for the gesture. According to them, but for the food items, they would have stayed indoors due to the economic hardship.
