Bulgarian Harmonica Cottage Cheese from Goat Milk Wins Highest International Accolade

Sofia, Aug 17, (BTA/GNA) – A Bulgarian cottage cheese from goat milk won the top distinction at the 2022 Great Taste Awards, the world’s number one food and drink accreditation scheme promoted by the Guild of Fine Food, a British gourmet news publisher. The achievement was reported on Monday by Bulgarian food company Harmonica, which created the product.

Harmonica Cottage Cheese from Goat Milk won three stars (“Exquisite”), which is the highest honour recognizing extraordinarily tasty foods. Three stars were also conferred on another Bulgarian product, Heather Hills Farm Bulgarian Lime Honey. Two other Harmonica products, a lemonade and einkorn wheat sticks, were given one star (“Simply Delicious”). Harmonica was distinguished at the Great Taste Awards for the sixth year running, but this is its first top award.

This year, more than 14,000 products were blind-tasted by a panel of 500-plus experienced judges, and 4,078 of them received one star, 1,237 two stars and 241 three stars. The evaluation process in Dorset and London lasted 90 days. It covered foods and drinks from 110 countries around the globe. Three out of 11 award-winning Bulgarian products are of the Harmonica brand.

Harmonica Cottage Cheese from Goat Milk is made from Bulgarian organic milk from goats raised on highland pastures amid clean air and abundant sunshine, the company said.

The company’s co-founder Lyubomir Nokov commented: “Winning three stars at the Great Taste Awards is the ultimate recognition for us, a sign that we have been successful in our efforts to offer clean food of outstanding taste. The awards from this prestigious forum are an acknowledgement for the invaluable assets of Bulgarian nature and tradition and the hard work of Bulgarian food producers. This international distinction obliges us to follow up our responsible policy of protecting the environment and supporting Bulgarian farmers.”
